Why margin matters
Materials of $1,200 plus $1,520 of labour puts your cost at $2,720. The 20% margin ($544) is what covers everything the customer never sees — insurance, the ute, tools, admin time and the quiet weeks between jobs. Quote without it and you're paying for those yourself. And remember: GST goes on top when you invoice.
